Heat-pump icing up, not defrosting during Thanksgiving

I cannot guess how chilly this fall has been so far, but my pal and I have acquired at least 3 inches of snow in a matter of two weeks being into fall.

The snowfall was a wake up call to our state since a lot of the snow plows were not prepared, especially with the snowfall occurring right in the beginning of Fall.

Due to the temperature as being much colder than normal, my house has not been able to adjust to the chilly temperatures as quick. My family is coming over for Thanksgiving supper tomorrow. There’s a lot of things that I needed to prepare plus get ready for their arrival… Of course right when I was about to prep some meals I went to go turn on my heater plus my heater was not turning on, but i do have a heat pump which is one of the main sources of staying hot in my home. I went outside to check out my heat pump, however when I went to it I saw that the entire device looked like it had snow on it. It was practically encased in ice plus it did not seem normal. I decided to call my Heating plus Air Conditioning serviceman instantly. When the Heating plus Air Conditioning serviceman arrived he said it is normal for a heat pump to ice up… However he said that due to the amount of ice plus the thickness of it, it was not normal. It turns out that the coils were jammed by the ice so there was no respected heat transfer between the refrigerant plus the outside air! Luckily he was able to repair the problem within in an hour so I could use my heater again.
