Let my daughter move out, she moved right back in

Periodically it’s best to teach your youngsters by letting them make massive mistakes! You can try to keep them safe and control their lives, however it does no good.

They’re just going to resent you.

In order to let my children learn their lessons, I’ll keep my mouth shut while they experience life on their own. I’ll be here when they come crawling back. This was the case recently when my daughter insisted that she wanted to move out of our home to strike out on her own. I could have stopped her, however instead I let her walk right out the door. I knew that she wouldn’t be gone long, with the outdoor air temperature we’ve been experiencing. My daughter has never had to spend money bills on her own and I knew she would have no idea what she was in for when the energy bill came around each month. She’s undoubtedly never seen the energy expense from running an AC device afternoon in and afternoon out, then when she moved out, I bet that she would last one month before her utility woes drove her back home. I was wrong; it only took two weeks before she stopped paying her own energy expenses and was back in the safety of our central AC system. Apparently, within one week of moving into her up-to-date digs, the AC device broke down, then between the cost of an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C emergency maintenance and her quarterly utility bills, my daughter was broke. She couldn’t live without the AC system and she couldn’t find more currency to cover her portion of the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C appointment. She was knocking on our door within afternoons of leaving.
